Bangladesh is one of the top peacekeepers in UN peacekeeping missions. In addition to professionalism, dedication, discipline, efficiency and humane conduct have played an important role in the success of the Bangladeshi peacekeepers. In the outgoing year 2020, Bangladesh has achieved unimaginable success in the UN peacekeeping mission. This achievement of Bangladesh in the midst of deadly coronavirus epidemic has brightened the image abroad. Not only has Bangladesh achieved success, it has also achieved foreign exchange. Apart from this, Bangladesh is fortunate to have two successes. One of them is the first country to send peacekeepers. The second is to gain the status of the country that sends the highest number of peacekeepers. In the last 31 years since joining the peacekeeping mission, the law enforcement agencies have worked hard to achieve such a feat. In the outgoing year, Bangladesh has earned about Tk 4.5 billion in foreign exchange. In the last 31 years since joining the UN peacekeeping mission, Bangladesh has earned about Tk 5,000 crore in foreign exchange. Praising the women serving in the peacekeeping force, the Prime Minister said, "I am very proud of the women pilots. Now there is a good opportunity for girls everywhere. 'He rightly said that Bangladesh has been contributing to peace, security and building a culture of peace. Bangladesh's peacekeepers are risking their lives to establish and maintain peace in conflict-prone countries. Wherever our peacekeepers have gone, they have hoisted the UN flag and raised the image of Bangladesh. That is why Bangladesh today has become one of the top peacekeepers in the world.

Thousands of our Armed Forces officers are working tirelessly in UN peacekeeping missions to establish peace and order in different countries. APC or warplanes, sophisticated frigates and other modern weapons have been procured for the modernization of the armed forces. National Defense College, War College, Armed Forces Medical College, Peacekeeping Institute, Science and Technology Institute have been established to enhance professionalism. Along with the armed forces, the police are also playing an important role in establishing world peace. At present, Bangladesh Police has six missions in UN peacekeeping missions. More than 900 police personnel are working in these missions. Police joined the UN peacekeeping mission in Namibia in 1989. Since then, 19,748 members of the police have completed their missions in the last 31 years.

It is a matter of great pride for Bangladesh that at present there are 8,642 peacekeepers out of 60,174 peacekeepers in 122 countries engaged in establishing world peace. This number is 8.40 percent of the total peacekeepers deployed in the world, which is a great honor for us. Besides, 264 women peacekeepers of Bangladesh are currently engaged in world peacekeeping activities. Our peacekeepers have successfully completed 55 UN missions in 40 countries. At present our peacekeepers are engaged in 6 missions. He also has the rank of Major General as Deputy Force Commander in South Sudan and the rank of Brigadier General in the Congo, Central African Republic and Sector Commander in South Sudan. They got these high positions because of their skills. The countrymen hope that in the days to come, more indigenous peacekeepers will join the UN peacekeeping missions and bring fame to the country by discharging their duties with honesty, dedication and professionalism.
