- May 29, 2021, 8:59 pm
The government's goal should be to have an interim budget for the next six months. The BNP thinks that no goal of the full budget will be achieved because of Corona. BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam made the remarks at a press conference at the BNP chairperson's office in Gulshan on Friday afternoon.
Fakhrul said, "We made this demand even in the outgoing financial year. Ignoring that demand, an unrealizable budget of Tk 5 lakh 6 thousand crore was given without giving a 'special corona budget'. In the end, no budget target was achieved that way. In the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's independence, we want to make it clear that good governance and accountability must be built to ensure financial management. '

Mirza Fakhrul said the BNP wants a budget to save lives and address risks by giving top priority to health, education and agriculture. Because, first of all, life. So this year's budget should be a life-saving budget; Risk management and risk management budget. This year's budget will be the budget for control and coronavirus coronavirus.
The BNP wants to see this year's (2021-2022) budget as a starting point for a definite direction of the economy of the future rather than just a specific fiscal year. For this, they feel that the budget needs a commitment to establish a 'good governance and accountability economy' as a policy strategy for the future economy.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam presented the BNP's 24-point budget proposal at the press conference. The party's standing committee members Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Nazrul Islam Khan and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud were present at the time.
Highlighting the allocation of 5 percent of GDP in the health, education and agriculture sectors in the 24-point proposal, the BNP secretary general said the health sector should be included in the top list of the budget. The best management needs to be ensured to keep both the ongoing global epidemic prevention and treatment in balance. Allocations in the education sector need to be increased to prevent students from dropping out, provide scholarships, expand technology, provide financial assistance to educational institutions that have suffered in the short run, develop research and infrastructure and expand higher education. At the same time, strategic measures need to be taken such as diversification of agriculture, industry and service sectors, production, technological capability, productivity and survival in competition. 5% of GDP should be allocated to the agricultural sector.
In a 26-page budget for the 2021-22 fiscal, the BNP provides 6 to 8 per cent of GDP for the unemployed and marginalized people, a three-month incentive of Rs 15,000 from the state fund for the 'Din Ane Din Khay' category, and a neutral list of distressed beneficiaries. Has proposed to bring the population under the protection assistance package.

Apart from this, formation of agriculture commission, exploration of alternative markets for export diversification, establishment of sustainable health system, construction of adequate specialized hospitals to deal with epidemics like crisis, introduction of national health card, establishment of dedicated infectious disease hospitals in every district, increase in number of corona beds The BNP has also mentioned in the budget proposal to increase foreign grants from sources. The BNP called on the government to form a high-level 'Economic Advisory Council' with top economists.
Fakhrul alleged that corruption was taking place in the name of allocating funds for mega projects like Padma Bridge, Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, Rampal Power Plant, Payra Deep Seaport and Matarbari Power Plant. He said, ‘You all know all the stories of mega corruption in mega projects. It has been seen that the government is more interested in taking up mega projects than the overall socio-economic development of the common man.
Black Money: Who Are They?
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam strongly criticized the government's policy of laundering black money. He said, "In the coming budget also, there is an opportunity to launder black money. The finance minister said as long as there is undisclosed income, there will be this opportunity. The Finance Minister opened the door to legalize the black money saved by looting, which we consider to be unethical and unjust to the law abiding citizens. '
Criticizing the government, the BNP leader said, who has earned so much black money in Kovidka? The nation wants to know, who are they? However, in the meantime, the names of many Raghab Boals from the ruling party and their supporters have come out. A huge chunk of undisclosed income is going to be money laundering. According to a report by Global Financial Integrity, a Washington-based international organization, money laundering from the country has increased at an unusual rate. Millions of crores of rupees are smuggled every year. The actual image is even more gruesome. With the amount of money that was smuggled, it would have been possible to build four Padma bridges.
BNP leaders Shyama Obaid, Syed Emran Saleh and Shairul Kabir Khan were present at the press conference. Besides, BNP central leaders Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Shawkat Mahmud, Harun Al Rashid, Ismail Jabiullah, Sukomal Barua, Shahzada Mia, Tahsina Rushdie, Anindya Islam, Jayant Kumar Kundu and others were also virtually involved.
